Mrs. Kuo-Pei Cheng-Lin was born in Taiwan, where she started playing the piano at the age of sixÌýand entered classical music school in the seventh grade.ÌýShe holds a BMÌýin Piano Performance from the National Institute of Arts in TaiwanÌýand two Master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from The Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM),Ìýwhere she studied with Anne Epperson, Sandra Shapiro, Thomas Hecht and Olga RadosavljevichÌýand performed in master classes given by Jerome Lowenthal, Warren Jones, Jean Barr.ÌýShe received a full scholarship from the Santa Barbara Summer Music Festival andÌýafter graduation from CIM, was appointed staff accompanist at CIM.
In 1995, she moved to Cincinnati where she served as principal pianist for the Middletown Symphony OrchestraÌýand as the music director and pianist for the Cincinnati Chinese Church at Mason.ÌýMoving to Greenville, SC in 2004, Mrs. Cheng-Lin was an adjunct professor at North Greenville UniversityÌýand served as principal pianist for the Spartanburg Philharmonic OrchestraÌýand pianist for the Greenville Chinese Christian Church.ÌýShe has taught piano for more than 30 years and her students haveÌýbeen winners in many auditions and competitions.
In SC, she was also a speaker and panelist for GMTA meetings andÌýBob Jones University piano symposium.ÌýThrough the years, she has continued to perform recitals as a soloist and with musicians from the Cincinnati Symphony,ÌýGreenville Symphony, as well as faculty members ofÌýNorth Greenville University, Indiana University, Clemson University,Ìýand Furman University, among others. She performed Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Foothills PhilharmonicÌýat the Peace Center in Greenville, SC.Ìý
Mrs. Cheng-Lin joined FAU as an adjunct professor in 2019.
