The Center for Peace, Justice and Human Rights Working Group on Race and Mass Incarceration invites you to join us for a visit to Everglades Correctional Institution on Monday, April 17 from 1:00-4:00. Our visit will be hosted by , a Miami-based prison writing organization, and the , which seeks to change the public鈥檚 perception of the criminal justice system by becoming proximate with the humanity of incarcerated people. Our small group will participate in a special session with residents of Everglades CI, in which we will discuss the events and research in our Faculty Working Group, hear from Everglades CI students about their ongoing participation in Exchange for Change (and hopefully hear and read selections of their writing), as well as hear about the experiences of Everglades CI residents in their inaugural partnership with the Frederick Douglass Project.听
This event has a limited capacity- register by Friday 4/7 to reserve a spot! 听
